Spud Gun

The past few weeks we have been doing science. Our science subject was on Spud Guns. Spud Guns are a type of potato gun using straws and square sticks to pop the potato out of the straw.  We also did one about on forceps that was fun. The Spud Guns didn't even work I was sad😢. The materials we used were four different types of straws from McDonald's, Starbucks, these weak plastic straws that were easily breaking, and thick paper straws that worked well but they would get soggy. So we also tried peeling the potato's but even that didn't work. But when Mrs Drummond tried it in her own time and worked. think it didn't work because some people were using the pointy side of the square stick.

The cloth was a Hallensteins brand clothing it belonged to Harold a NZ soldier. The war was at 3pm 5th August 1914 in Gallipoli it started on April 1915 - December 1915. 100,000 New Zealanders soldiers served overseas in the war, 41,000 were wounded or fell ill 18,000 died and funny enough 5 soldiers were soldiers. Recruits had to be 162.5 cm tall less than 77kgs  and physically fit minimum age of 20 years old. Dental health was poor that a separate Dental corp was formed.

All Saint's Day And All Soul's Day

This is my page for All Souls day/All Saint's day and a written message that it is hard to see and a drawing in memory of my Grandpa from my mum's side. He was a funny caring grandparent but he has past away we had his unveiling 3 years ago it was in Botswana in Africa. My Grandma from my mum's side is still alive but very sick. We pray for her at home all the time. But my grand parents from my dad's side have past away we still pray for them. My grandma from my dad's side died a week before we got to Africa for a visit her funeral was the day we arrived. For All Souls Day we had a mass father asked us a few questions like who is Jesus's grandparents were Saint Anne and Heli and another question was who is our Australian NZ Saint and the answer was saint Mary Mackillop. The mass was great. I can't wait for the graduation mass cause I am a year six so I will be performing a dance with the other year sixes.

bike safety course

Today we did a bike safety course the people from Bigfoot. It was really fun. We did some 3 hand signals: for turning left, turning right and stop. And there were 4 safety checks.
1. Checking if your bikes wheel levers were in place and weren't going to undo themselves while riding. We check with our 2 fingers, the index finger an our middle finger flicking the levers to make sure they weren't going to come out.
2. Always check that your reflector is facing backwards and make sure you have one you go on a bike ride at night.
3. Check if your brakes are working using the fingers that you used for your levers and and when you roll your bike forwards pull you left brake to stop your front wheel and roll your bike backwards and pull your right brake to stop the back wheel.
4. Check your tyres if they are pumped with your palms.
And all that takes up to 13 seconds before you go to school or a bike ride. And don't forget to wear your helmet cause it is the law.

Ni Hao! On Fridays we have Mandarin lessons. And our teacher Ms Li teaches us about the Chinese culture and about the amazing language. Cross

This is my cross. Today i finished my cross. It took about 6 weeks till I finished. At the start I thought it was going to look like a disaster. The things that we put on our cross was to do something with God's creation or the school. The symbols i put was the yin and yang cause it symbolizes the chinese culture in our school. I also did two flags - the NZ flag and the Botswana flag because I am from Botswana and I was born in NZ. I also put a sun cause Good Shepherd is the light of my world. And I had a heart and grass to show the love of the Good Shepherd school field. And last but not lest are the arrows on the top of the cross symbolize all the patterns we have in our lovely earth.

Mass

In the morning we went to morning mass. It was fun to learn more about God and Jesus and to listen to the message from the Bible about Jesus filling the net to feed everyone after a few days without fish. And the net was so full they called the people from the other side of the sea to help cause the net was starting to tear and needed the people to use their net for more support.

During the Eucharist we had the people who haven't taken their first holy communion just put their arm across the chest. Then Father Bernard said some words for us to go in peace.

How does a Roomba work

A Roomba is a robotic vacuum cleaner that means it can clean a room by itself. The Roomba was introduced in September 2002. Roomba's have sensors to help them navigate and guide them around the room. Roomba's can clean under the couch,on the carpet and hard floors. The Roomba can clean for 1-2 hrs but after weekly for a year or 2 you can find the battery power dipping low as 30-40 mins that won’t be able to clean a room. You're probably wondering where you can get this marvelous robot. You can get them at Harvey Norman, bed bath and beyond, Noel Leeming and Dick smith. They cost around $500 - $900 some even cost $1,000 cause the new ones have to be connected wifi and might come with remotes depending on the type Roomba. Hope you learned something about the Roomba.
