Spud Gun

The past few weeks we have been doing science. Our science subject was on Spud Guns. Spud Guns are a type of potato gun using straws and square sticks to pop the potato out of the straw.  We also did one about on forceps that was fun. The Spud Guns didn't even work I was sad😢. The materials we used were four different types of straws from McDonald's, Starbucks, these weak plastic straws that were easily breaking, and thick paper straws that worked well but they would get soggy. So we also tried peeling the potato's but even that didn't work. But when Mrs Drummond tried it in her own time and worked. think it didn't work because some people were using the pointy side of the square stick.

Walking with an Anzac

Today we learned some about Anzac. Nathaniel and I got a poster and a piece clothing. The poster was about a the last dinner for the 40 soldiers. The cloth was a Hallensteins brand clothing it belonged to Harold a NZ soldier. The war was at 3pm 5th August 1914 in Gallipoli it started on April 1915 - December 1915. 100,000 New Zealanders soldiers served overseas in the war, 41,000 were wounded or fell ill 18,000 died and funny enough 5 soldiers were soldiers. Recruits had to be 162.5 cm tall less than 77kgs  and physically fit minimum age of 20 years old. Dental health was poor that a separate Dental corp was formed.

Athletics Day

Today we went to Three Kings Reserve in a bus but it was horrible! I thought I was going to eat the competition, but I sprained my foot really badly on my first race. I missed out on most of the activities at athletics because of this incident. I was also supposed to run on the relays for my house Cowley. My friends were there to help me out and a very kind lady helped me when I was hurt. She gave me a pair of crutches that are from our local hospital. I had fun sitting down talking to my friend's Ethan and Nathaniel who are very kind man. Then I came back in my Principal's car.

My comic strip

Today we did comic strips with Mr Drummond and Mrs Drummond. This is my comic. It is about a merman named Andrew and he is trying to keep his title of being king of the sea by fighting a shark but sadly he loses the fight. Mr Drummond said I was an amazing artist and I should keep up drawing so well. I felt really proud. I like drawing in my free time.

All Saint's Day And All Soul's Day

This is my page for All Souls day/All Saint's day and a written message that it is hard to see and a drawing in memory of my Grandpa from my mum's side. He was a funny caring grandparent but he has past away we had his unveiling 3 years ago it was in Botswana in Africa. My Grandma from my mum's side is still alive but very sick. We pray for her at home all the time. But my grand parents from my dad's side have past away we still pray for them. My grandma from my dad's side died a week before we got to Africa for a visit her funeral was the day we arrived. For All Souls Day we had a mass father asked us a few questions like who is Jesus's grandparents were Saint Anne and Heli and another question was who is our Australian NZ Saint and the answer was saint Mary Mackillop. The mass was great. I can't wait for the graduation mass cause I am a year six so I will be performing a dance with the other year sixes.
